We are estactic to share that Christian's Cuvée Merlot 2014 was just named in "The Best Wines of 2018" by The Wine Advocate's Mark Squires and awarded 93 points.
"Long Island and Merlot is a thing, too, and this top-level bottling seems to be pretty terrific. We’ll see where it goes in time, but there is no rush. In fact, it needs time to show its best. This winery has proven over the years that the wines age exceptionally well. If you want to make wines in this price category and be considered a serious player, of course, the wines have to do just that," states Squires. "This will start to acquire complexity and finesse closer to 2023, I suspect. This is a pretty good choice for a Long Island representative this issue, although hardly the only possibility."
A fitting way to close out our 30th year, if you ask Roman Roth. "Christian’s Cuveé, named for Founder Christian Wölffer, is the pinnacle of quality at our Estate. This wine is only made in great vintages and the vines from which it is made (our oldest Merlot block) receive the ultimate care and attention. With a spare-no-expense approach for the creation of this Merlot (Long Island’s signature variety), this wine can stand up to the very best in the world. I am so proud of this wine being recieved so well vintage after vintage."
