Announcing Finca Wölffer Rosé

WÖLFFER ESTATE VINEYARD INTRODUCES FINCA WÖLFFER ROSÉ

Landmark Rosé from Argentina

Sagaponack, NY – June 17, 2015 – Wölffer Estate Vineyard, a sustainable vineyard in the heart of the Hamptons, is proud to announce the release of our newest wine, Finca Wölffer Rosé. Made from fruit grown in our vineyard in Mendoza, Finca Wölffer Rosé 2015 is a landmark rosé wine. Winemaker and Partner Roman Roth specially selected the component varietals—52% Malbec, 11% Pinot Noir, 11% Pinot Gris, 10% Bonarda, 8% Torrontés and 8% Cabernet Sauvignon—to grow and make this wine on purpose, not in a saignée process common to rosé production in this region. With its luminous pink glow and elegant, dry style, Finca Wölffer Rosé is the first of its kind from Argentina. It will be available in early July 2015.

We had two goals when making this first-ever vintage of Finca Wölffer Rosé. First, we felt we could bring our deliberate and focused approach to making sophisticated and elegant rosé to Argentina. The region’s average of more than 300 sunny days a year; arid, high-altitude climate and sandy loam soil are ideal for achieving the balance, ripeness and lively acidity that are the hallmarks of Wölffer Estate’s iconic style,” says Roman Roth. “Second, we sought to fulfill a dream of Christian Wölffer to make wine from this land he loved,” Roman continues, referring to founder Christian Wölffer’s love of Argentina, its equestrian and culinary culture. “This wine is an expression of our Hamptons esprit, yet you can almost taste the mountain air from the Andes. This is definitely rosé with altitude!”

WölfferEstate Vineyard co-owner Marc Wölffer owns 20 acres of vines in Agrelo - Lujan de Cuyo, 4,100 feet above sea level, at the base of the Andes in Mendoza. Using a blend of sustainably farmed fruit from our vineyard, grown specifically for this wine, as well as carefully chosen lots from quality growers in the region, Finca Wölffer Rosé is made at the nearby Dominio del Plata winery. The winery is owned by Susanna Balbo, “the Aida of Torrontes” and one of the most important winemakers in Argentina. Roman worked closely with her winemaking team to produce this landmark wine. Only 3,814 cases were made.

Finca Wölffer Rosé is imported by USA Wine West and will be sold via retailers and restaurants throughout the tristate area, see list in development attached. Due to federal import laws, it will not be available for purchase directly from Wölffer Estate. The suggested retail price is $17 per bottle.

The Finca Wölffer label represents Wölffer Estate’s international expansion with wines from Latin geographies, including Mallorca and now Argentina. The first Finca Wölffer wine, Brau 2010, a Petit Verdot-based blend, comes from our vineyard in Mallorca and was released in November 2014. Finca Wölffer Brau also is available at select retailers and restaurants.
