With a Computer Science degree from Vanderbilt University and an MBA in Marketing from NYU's Stern School of Business, Max started his career as a sales engineer and consultant for a software company in the Bay Area and IBM in New York. Later at consulting companies Opera Solutions and Prophet Brand Strategy, he managed marketing projects using online and offline data and the latest in analytics to drive sales and retain customers. He infuses these experiences and influences into Wölffer Estate Vineyard's storied legacy of winemaking, hospitality and innovation.
Having bicycled across the country and backpacked around the world, Max always enjoys the journey but never loses sight of the goal.
The success of any vintage is determined by the health and vigor of the vineyard. The vines must be capable of expressing not only the land, but also the climate and circumstance of each year's harvest. An accomplished vineyard master needs to approach each vintage with experience and a comfortable relationship with risk; the goal is to extract everything the vines have to offer, and to do less is unacceptable.
Rich Piscacano brings an extremely valuable 38 years of experience to Wölffer Estate. Long before our 55 acres were planted, Rich was the architect of many of the North Fork's best-known vineyards. The growing season requires elan and endurance. There are no days off. Ocean storms, global warming and an occasional display of Long Island's humidity demand complete attention. In addition to managing the vineyard, the vineyard master needs to have a close relationship with the winemaker. Rich and winemaker Roman Roth have collaborated on over 20 vintages and countless extraordinary wines, including our 94 point Parker-rated dessert wines. Together, they're a force of nature.

A fifth-generation Hamptons resident, Lara Brown was born and raised in Water Mill on a family-owned farm. With a resourceful, bright and calming personality, Lara has achieved a great balance in her professional and personal life, while also making sure the books are balanced at Wölffer Estate Vineyard & Stables.
Lara attended Southampton schools and graduated from University of Connecticut with a BS in Accounting. She also completed the New York State CPA exam. She worked as a CPA for a large accounting firm for nine years. She has been with Wölffer for eight years.
Known for her organizational skills, she has applied that talent to her family as well as work. Lara understands the importance of family, particularly her husband, two elementary-aged boys and a young daughter. In her spare time, she can be seen driving to and from karate classes, little league and daycare, and attending her childrens' school events.
Known for her innate sense of style and elegant taste, Sue Calden brings those talents and much more in planning the varied and busy event schedule at the Estate. Sue has a fashion marketing background and was Creative Director at her own agency in New York City. She demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit as the owner of The Pink House Bed & Breakfast, an upscale B&B in East Hampton, and as a restaurateur owning Citron, a French bistro in Sag Harbor.
While planning lavish weddings and galas for several hundred people and intimate casual terrace lunches, Sue doesn’t overlook even the slightest detail and works closely with clients to make sure the event fulfills their vision.
Sue resides in the village of Sag Harbor, where she enjoys entertaining, cooking, and gardening. She is a native New Yorker and a world traveler. Sue attended Peter Kump's Cooking School in New York City. She has been with Wölffer since 2005.
Retail Sales Director
For Suellen Tunney, a passion for food and wine started at a very early age. As a child, if someone were to ask her what she wanted to be when she grew up, her answer would’ve been "Julia Child." After a two-week trip to Provence, France, in 1994, Suellen was officially hooked and has been working in the food and wine industry ever since.
Prior to coming to Wölffer, Suellen was the General Manager for the Harvest Restaurant Group in New Jersey for five years. She also worked with the Danny Meyer Group in New York City at The Modern, while attending the Graduate Program in Food Studies at New York University.
Suellen holds an Advanced Certification from the Wine and Spirits Education Trust, and loves cooking, gardening and living the country life with her husband and two daughters in the Hamptons.
Wholesale Sales Director
Mindy's expertise in food and wine began soon after graduating college, where she worked in restaurant management before spending 14.5 years in sales management in the food service industry in New York and Connecticut. She joined Wölffer Estate in 2007.
Mindy is an avid tennis player and passionate cook and wine enthusiast. She earned her first-level Sommelier certificate in 2009. She resides in East Quogue with her husband and teenage daughter. Mindy graduated with a BBA in Management from The University of Georgia.
A New York native, Ali has an intrinsic dedication to the East End having spent summers throughout her life on Shelter Island. Her lifetime love of food and wine was born from her large, close-knit family who believe that meaningful relationships are developed over shared meals.
Ali earned her B.A. in Psychology from Lafayette College and began her marketing career at New York City based media companies including Wieden + Kennedy and Anomaly. She spent 8 years in Boston, MA leading strategy and marketing for PUMA North America’s Lifestyle Division before moving to the East End to put down her roots. Ali joined Wolffer in 2017. A proud mama, runner, avid traveler and ardent cook, Ali currently resides in Greenport with her husband and three children.
Paul got his first taste of hospitality management in college, as a Shake Shack intern for Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group. After a summer of burgers and fries, he knew the hustle and bustle of a high-volume restaurant is where he wanted to be. Upon college graduation, he entered the management training program at Hillstone Restaurant Group. Paul spent four years at Hillstone as a manager at various locations: East Hampton Grill, Hillstone Boston, Hillstone Park Avenue and the Grill at Bal Harbour. The majority of his Hillstone career he ran the management training program out of East Hampton Grill where he trained over 50 managers for the company. He joined the Wolffer Estate Vineyard and Wolffer Kitchen team in May 2016 as the Director of Hospitality. Since then, he has opened Wölffer Kitchen Amagansett and continues to look for new opportunities for the brand.
Paul is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated with a BBA from Emory University, where he was the swim team captain and 4-time NCAA All-American.
National Sales Manager
Brie’s love of wine developed during her six years of living in Italy where she earned a degree in Painting Conservation and Micro-Raman Spectroscopy. After finishing her studies, she worked as a painting restorer at the Uffizi Museum spending her vacation time doing harvest in countries such as France, Spain, Germany and Georgia. Her new-found passion led her back to New York City to pursue a career in wine sales. There, she began work as a wine sales representative, working her way from being a General Manager of a major wine distributor to owning her own wine brokerage firm.
Brie joined Wölffer in 2015 as their National Sales Manager. She is a proud New Yorker, an art and wine enthusiast, and is happiest when meeting new people.
