Wine and Dine: A Pairing and Presentation to Remember

While we are patiently awaiting weather that lends itself to backyard BBQs and porch drinks, we are also excited for the release of the Christian's Cuvee Merlot 2014! This wine is the pinnacle of quality at the Estate, with the 2013 vintage being named one of Forbes Top Ten of 2017. Opening and serving a wine like this deserves a pairing to match, and we are in love with this Roast Leg of Lamb with Herbs and Kale from Saveur.

"The dramatic presentation of a whole leg of lamb is the most fun part about roasting one," they told us. "Have your butcher clean the protruding bone well and leave about ¼ inch of fat on the outside of the meat. The kale here is simple, but it helps balance the lamb's meaty, assertive flavor with a bright vinegar dressing."

This recipe needs a few hours to cook, but overall preparation is easy and will leave you plenty of time to set the table, decant the wine and still be able to kick your feet up before the guests arrive! When drinking the Christian's Cuvee Merlot, we always recommend keeping one to cellar as well. This wine has amazing aging potential and will be a pleasant surprise when you open one in ten years.
