Wölffer Estate Vineyard Launches Wölffer Kitchen in Sag Harbor

WÖLFFER ESTATE VINEYARD LAUNCHES WÖLFFER KITCHEN IN SAG HARBORNew Restaurant Extends Brand, Deepens Tie to Community and Highlights Food-Friendly Elegant WinesFood for Wine, Wine for FoodSagaponack, NY – May 20, 2015 – Wölffer Estate Vineyard, a sustainable vineyard in the heart of the Hamptons, is proud to announce its newest venture: Wölffer Kitchen at 29 Main Street in Sag Harbor. The first winery-owned restaurant in the Hamptons, co-owned by siblings Marc and Joey Wölffer, Wölffer Kitchen is a casual neighborhood eatery with a distinct local, seasonal food ethic, serving locally made artisanal wines, beers and spirits as well as favorites from around the world. Wölffer Kitchen is slated to open in Summer 2015.“Launching a restaurant is a natural extension of our brand,” says Marc Wölffer, also co-owner of Wölffer Estate Vineyard. Mr. Wölffer is a hospitality veteran. His fondness for Mallorca, the Spanish island known for its fresh and gracious Mediterranean cuisine, where he owns a vineyard, shines through at Wölffer Kitchen. “As the Wölffer brand extends internationally with wines from our vineyards in Spain and Argentina, we wanted to bring a unique culinary experience home to the Hamptons.”Wölffer Kitchen serves modern American cuisine with a Mediterranean influence. Our focus is on local, fresh, seasonal and ultimately wine-friendly food. The wine list will feature wines and hard ciders from Wölffer Estate Vineyard and other quality Long Island producers, as well as select labels from around the world. Wölffer Winemaker and Partner Roman Roth helps to curate the wine list. Wölffer Kitchen also will offer craft beers, ciders and spirits with an emphasis on Long Island and New York craft producers. Craft cocktails will feature ciders and spirits from Wölffer and other quality producers, and herbs and garnishes from local farms.“Wine and food make a harmonious blend, not only at meals but as a lifestyle,” says Joey Wolffer, who is co-owner of Wölffer Estate Vineyard, and owner and founder of the mobile boutique, The Styleliner, which will open its first brick-and-mortar store, also in Sag Harbor, on May 22, 2015.Ms. Wolffer oversaw the redesign of the restaurant, working with Sagaponack-based Martin Architects to create a convivial neighborhood destination that encompasses the Sag Harbor village streetscape combined with materials and subtle sophistication of European winemaking, including natural woods and aged materials, and a gallery of wine. Recalling gatherings thrown by her father, Christian Wölffer, founder of Wölffer Estate Vineyard, at the family farmhouse, she says, “Entertaining is a part of the Wölffer family DNA. We created Wölffer Kitchen to be a modern yet cozy and comfortable space that echoes the bohemian spirit of the Hamptons Marc and I knew as kids—a special place where great memories are born.”Roman Roth says, “Wölffer Estate has deep ties to the Hamptons community and to the broader Long Island wine region. At Wölffer Kitchen, we will showcase the quality wines of Long Island and put them in the context of other food-friendly, elegant wines from around the world. Watch for special events throughout the year where our local producers and their products will take center stage!”Chef Deena Chafetz, who is known for her refined and contemporary approach to authentic international cuisine, oversees the kitchen. Chef Chafetz grew up on Long Island and has cooked in kitchens from Manhattan to, most recently, Northern California. “Building a menu based on pairings with Wölffer wine, the seasonal local fish and harvests of East End farms is a chef’s dream,” she said. “The bounty of the area offers the perfect inspiration.”Upon opening, Wölffer Kitchen offers dinner service daily, with lunch and brunch offerings coming soon. Wölffer Kitchen is open seven days a week year-round. Vukasin Markovljev is General Manager. Find complete hours, menus and other information at www.wolfferkitchen.com.
