WÖLFFER ESTATE VINEYARD ANNOUNCES 2016 FINCA WÖLFFER ROSÉ The Second Vintage of a Landmark Rosé from Argentina Sagaponack, NY – June 17, 2016 –Wölffer Winemaker Roman Roth, along with renowned Argentine winemaker, Susana Balbo, and her son José Lovaglio at Dominio del Plata, release the second and even better vintage ofFinca Wölffer Rosé. With a deeper understanding of how Wölffer’s vines in Mendoza, Argentina, can produce the perfect Rosé, Roman had countless trips and conversations to perfect the lightness, acidity and depth of this year’s vintage. Christian Wölffer’s dream of making wine from the land he loved has come to life and we are very proud to bring it to you. 2016 is a blend neither the United States nor Argentina has ever seen before. Roman Roth specifically selected the component varietals (41% Malbec, 19% Pinot Noir, 14% Syrah, 9% Torrontes, 8% Pinot Gris, 5% Sauvignon Blanc, and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon) to make this wine on purpose, not in the saignée process common to Rosé production in this region. With its luminous pink glow and elegant, dry style, Finca Wölffer Rosé is the next Wölffer Rosé. It will be available in liquor stores around NYC and the Hamptons on July 1, 2016. According to Wölffer Estate Co-Owner, Joey Wölffer, this Argentine expansion wasn’t done by chance. “My dad loved Argentina—the food, the wine, the people,” she explains. “He used to fly his horses there to train before bringing them back to his farm. It was his dream to retire there. When he passed away at the end of 2008, the first thought my brother Marc and I had was to find a way to continue his legacy.” As for why the 2016 vintage surpasses the 2015, Roth notes that “working now for the second year on this project, with the team from Dominio del Plata, our communication and understanding of each other has greatly improved and thus resulted in an even better wine.” He adds, “Wine is not only made by numbers. What is ripe to me has a different meaning to another winemaker and in 206 we closed that gap. The fruit was picked a bit riper than last year, but still fresh and vibrant and the finish is classic. The key was to bring our well-established, balanced and focused style of Rosé to Argentina and to make this wine with purpose and passion.” Finca Wölffer Rosé is imported by Winebow and is sold via retailers and restaurants around NYC and the Hamptons. Due to federal import laws, it will not be available for purchase directly from Wölffer Estate. The suggested retail price is $17 per bottle. The first Finca Wölffer wine, Brau 2010, a Petit Verdot-based blend, comes from our vineyard in Mallorca and was released in November 2014. Finca Wölffer Brau also is available at select retailers and restaurants. Go behind the scenes for the making of Finca Wolffer Rose!
