Inspired by its popular sibling Summer in a Bottle Rosé ($24/bottle), which was introduced last year and sold out within 3-1/2 weeks, Summer in a Bottle White 2014 ($24/bottle) is available now at Wölffer Estate and at select retailers and restaurants.In addition to their beautiful floral label, imprinted directly on the bottle, what distinguishes the Summer in a Bottle wines is their high-summer fruit character. An homage to the beautiful summer of 2014 and the color of sunshine, Summer in a Bottle White is a literal taste of the season. “We specially selected different vineyards on Long Island for this food-friendly white blend. The balanced blend of four grapes creates a fresh, vivacious wine with juicy aromas of local summer fruits. Think ripe peach, apricot and cantaloupe, along with honeysuckle and freshly cut hay. All smells of summer.”An aromatic blend of 41% Chardonnay, 29% Gewürztraminer, 20% Riesling and 10% Pinot Gris, this vivacious white is bright and playful, and will complement most high-season summer fare. And like Summer in a Bottle Rosé, it comes in a screwcap closure, perfect for summer picnics and beach parties. The wine rests sur lie for three months before it’s blended and bottled with a screwcap closure. Only 2,300 cases were produced.Summer in a Bottle White joins Wölffer Estate Vineyard’s selection of elegant white table wines, including its reserve-level Perle Chardonnay ($30) and wild-yeast-fermented White Mischief Chardonnay ($30/bottle), as well as its iconic gold-label estate whites, Classic White ($16/bottle), Chardonny ($19/bottle), Sauvignon Blanc ($22/bottle) and Trebbiano ($22/bottle).
